The Situation

Hello Everyone,

I am concerned about Jess and the progress of the video in general. I haven’t heard back from her in quite some time now, and I am unsure of what to do at this point. The last time I heard from her was June 5th when she told me it would be done and uploaded in a few days. It’s now June 22nd, and still no word from Jess. I have e-mailed her several times since the 5th with no response. It’s been quite awhile since the song has been finished and I know we are all anxious to get the song online and move on. I am not sure what do at this point. I would really like to be able to do a live video since we all spent time on this project.

What I want to know from you all is, do you want to wait? If so how long? Should be move on without Jess? Does anyone how anybody that could make us a live video? Any suggestions or comments?

Let's all discuss this so we can figure out what to do.

I probably have collaborated with about 30-35 people already. Generally I have a lot of patience, even when people exceed the deadlines by a lot. In this time I learned a lot about how to handle collaborations. I only throw people out of projects for two reasons: 1) they stop communicating and 2) they keep making empty promises. Since Jess did both here, if I would have been the leader of Elysium, I would be taking her off the video editing before long. It is nothing personal against Jess. In the past I've removed people from projects, people who were both kind and very talented, but proved unable to work with.

Stick to a certain date (perhaps July 5th?). If she has not reacted before then, give the task to someone else.

Make sure that before this date, you already have all the video material to whomever can replace Jess for faster progress.

I myself have absolutely zero video editing skills, so the project is probably better off with someone else doing it.

I agree with Ron- if Jess has got too many things on her head right now, we should make this video on our own. Cause she shouldn't feel any pressure from our side right now. But we, as a choir, should go on and progress. I hope that Jess will handle all the problems and come back to Elysium, but right now we must to go on without her.
Unfortunatelly I haven't got any good editing program, so I can't make the video...

Perhaps we'll have to do that. I think I have Jess's own material floating around somewhere to give to someone else if needed. Hopefully she will come through, but if not, we can always ask someone else.

I agree. I sent an email but I believe only the BTS singers were included in that email so I'll repeat what I said here.

IF we choose to find another editor, I have just had a mess around on Sony Vegas and I've figured out how to do the 'loads of videos on one screen' thing... XD
I made Harmonium's video, and I've learned a few more skills since then so the offer is there if you would like me to do it. It would take me a few days, perhaps a week at the absolute most to complete. I may even get it done in a day, I'm not sure. But as far as the actual shrinking / positioning of the videos is concerned, it's very easy to do! I doubt I could do the video as well as Jess... BUT it would be perfectly usable. I've got a lot better on Vegas so I do trust myself to do it. Just let me know either way!

And a little note to Ron, Jess is usually wonderful with deadlines, it's nothing to do with her as a person, just her current circumstances. We had no problems with the video for Weep No More. I do agree with what you say though ^.^

I understand why she couldn't finish it. The problem is that she stopped communicating. If she had just told Beth that she could not do it anymore, everyone would understand and we could move on, but right now no one knows how to proceed. When I have soemthing like this with a collaboration partner, generally only one or two people are dependent on it, but now it are thirteen others.

I know. I already said I agree with you and I've said the same thing myself previously ^.^ Anyway the offer is there if we decide to move onto another editor.

In my opinion it's a good idea to let Sadie make our video. I've got my video and I can send it to you any minute ^^ <3

Awesome! Thank you for trusting me with this, guys! I'm going to try and get it done super quick and it might not be as great as Jessicas but I think we all just want it uploaded ASAP right?? And the video will be perfectly acceptable!

I can't download these videos until I visit my Dad's house which I'll try and do tomorrow. IF all those download links work, and if Kerstin and Mary get their videos to me in the next couple of days I can have the whole thing finished by the end of the week at the latest.

The sooner I'm sent stuff, the sooner it will be finished. I could have it done tonight if I had all the stuff! XD WHEE!!!

Not really, we've got a good part balance at the moment. In choral structure you always need a lot more altos than anything else, like the foundation of a house. It is easier to work with smaller numbers as well.

I agree there Beth, the more people in the group, the more chance of stuff happening to delay songs. Also, we have three members on leave. BTS had 8 singers but 10 voices as Chyree and I sang two parts, and I think it sounds full enough ^.^ Woo! I'm so excited. Driving to my Dad's house soon to download as many videos as I can! Just need Mary's!

As for Deviant Artists, I need to ask Kate what she does regarding that... I dunno if I need to get permission or just reference the artists in the description...

Did I miss something? Why do we need dA artwork? We are doing a live video, so I am confused

Well we don't just want a plain background... That would be boring! I'm using at least one piece from deviantart, perhaps a couple more depending on what happens! You'll see when you see the video, it will make sense! Don't worry it will look lovely I promise!

I didn't really edit anything. LOL Try not to listen to my "singing" in the long video. I was trying to make it look natural and I had lost my voice pretty much, so it was just bad.

Lol my actual singing was horrendous don't worry! You sounded fine but I laughed at you nearly dropping your camera! All videos inc. solos are positioned and timed now, apart from the two I'm waiting for. I'll download those tomorrow. All I need now is to make it look all pretty and it's done!

Phew... I'm so happy you got my part... It was horrible to see all those "YES"es and only one big "NO" next to my name xD

You are super quick Sadie! Yeah, I don't have any sort of stand or tripod and I was in the dining room, so I sort of had the camera propped up on some books and other things and it did fall a few times.
