| Hello everyone! It is getting close to new year, so I thought we should start planning for 2010 to we can have a nice timeline to work with next year. It will help us be more organized. The reason I posted this to the forum and had you come here is because I want to discuss things as a group rather than me just telling you or talking one on one with lots of people. What we need to decided... 1. How many songs do we want to do next year? (My thought is 4-6) 2. What songs do we want to sing next year? *If you want to do a song we need the sheet music for it. Lots of you have been suggesting wonderful songs, but we can't do much with them without sheet music unless you are planning on arranging it yourself.* One song I want to sing is "Hide and Seek" You can hear the arrangement that I was able to get a hold of on the sheet music resourcse page. Chyree also has some great sheets listed. Check that page out if you haven't already. 3. When should we work on new songs? What I mean is should we do a song in February and March and then break for April and start working again in June. That would be an example of when. ****We are taking an early winter break from assigned singing since we did so much so quickly. Don't plan on starting our third song until February. I will spend January taking care of my mother while she recovers from surgery, so I won't have much time to mix until Feb. In the meantime, we can start picking out songs, work on videos, get that intro done, and have time to work on other projects. So, if you've turned in your part for "Silent Night" and I have oked it, then you are off until February! 4. Also let me know anything else you want to do in the new year. What direction do you want to go in? What do you think we could be doing now that we are not? I want your input! 5. Should we do songs with multiple solos in them like Beyond the Sea or Over the rainbow (celtic woman)?? Respond below and let's discuss everything! -Beth

| Just so you all know what I think...
1. 4-6
2. Hide and Seek, Over the Rainbow (the celtic woman version)
3. I was thinking Feb/March May/June August/September November/Dec for 4 songs giving us a good amount of time to work on each song and a break between each song as well
4. I think we should do a nice mix of classical choral like WNM and Silent night and also work on some pop-ish songs with solos in them like Over the rainbow.
5. I would like to have solos in some songs, but not everyone can have a solo in every song so that could be a problem. | |

| 1. 4-6 sound good to me, that way we have at least two months per song. 2. I have always thought 'the bonny swans' by Loreena Mckennitt would be a nice group piece and I have piano/voice sheets but not for choral. so vocals would need to be arranged for a group. harmonies etc... Also I thought yesterday maybe 'Kiss from a rose' would be cool. There is choral sheet music available for this song (I could buy it) but I don't know if its available for women only choirs... so it might have to be adapted for SSAA (if thats possible) Here is a high school choir singing it. It would be great for the solo parts too!! But sang more like the first solo girl sings it and NOT like the girl in green! =P https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOq7jeR301E&feature=related#movie_player On the very classical side, I have always like the flower duet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfrK9ML3cC8And I am willing to help find/buy some sheet music for Elysium if I know for sure that we'll use it. 3. Anytime to record new stuff is good for me. I have no life. 4. Direction... I like almost every genre! I enjoy the songs that are arranged for choirs but I do want to one or two a year that aren't traditionally arranged for choirs... because that will make us unique. So maybe if we could aquire sheets for the songs, and use the original instrumental arrangement, but then work on our own unique vocal harmonies? And/or take turns singing some lines (like in 'beyond the sea') 5. I think solo lines are a great idea. Even if I don't ever get one at all. I just think some solos would sound nice, and I want the songs to sound the best they possibly can, even if you don't use me as much as others. I would still be proud knowing I was a part of the final project. | |

| 1. 4-6 songs for year is perfect for me 2. Wow, I've got a lot of ideas, too many I guess xD My favs are: -"The Scientist" by All Angels (the link was put by Sadie)- Coldplay's version is one of my favourite songs ever- Natasha Bedingfield' and All Angels' versions are also beautiful and I would L O V E to sing it with you - "Just for now" live version by Imogen Heap- When I firstly heard it... My brain exploded No, seriously, this song is great and I hope we would sing it in the future So many voices, so many harmonies- a paradise for such vocal group like our )) - "Song Bird" by All Angels https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0Wymbzn2Lk&feature=related When I heard their version of "Sound of silence", I thought that I prefer original version or Kina Grannis' version- I put a link in one topic on this forum- in "Ideas". BUT "Songbird" is really beautiful version of Eva Cassidy' song. I hope you will like it - "Somewhere over the rainbow" by Eva Cassidy. It's just an epic song Also one of my fav songs ever. 3. Just tell me, when we should start to sing, and I will start 4. Hmmm, direction... I can sing many things Maybe pop is too sweet for me, but some songs could be really beautiful 5. Solos is a great idea! SOf course some songs could be without it, just like Silent Night or Weep No More. But I will waiting forward to singing songs with solos I think that we can divide solo parts for some small parts for each of us OR sometimes choose some ladies from our group and give solos to them. And then, in another song, solos would be divided between another girls. (I hope that my English is understandable ^^") | |

| Okay, here we go: 1. 4-6 songs sounds good to me. Will give us enough time to work on each song and enough time to find new songs we wanna do, too. 2. The All Angels version of "The Scientist" is really really beautful. I'll also try and look for sheet music for that one. Also, "White winter hymnal" by Fleet Foxes would sound great, I think. Here's a link to a female version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GP_B0dTrvv0 I guess it would sound lovely with a piano and 12 angelic voices, since it seems to be quite a serious and dramatic song, actually. That would be quite the contrast, I suppose. There's quite a few vocal groups recordings of this song on youtube, but they're all live and none of them are really great quality. I also like "With or without you" in the style of Scala and Kolacny Brothers. Which you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M27IMEjqEgk I guess it could be quite difficult to find sheet music to that arrangement, though. 3. Your plan of doing a song Feb/Mar, then May/June, Aug/Sep and Nov/Dec sounds good to me. Unless it turns out we end up getting our songs done faster as we do this more often. Then we can still come up with an additional song somewhere inbetween. 4. I'd love to try a variety of genres. Classical choral music, pop music, anything that we can do as a group. 5. I think we could do solos, too. There are songs that kinda "require" a solo voice, I think. As long as we use different soloists on different songs I guess nobody would have a problem with that. *shrugs* At least that's how I see it. ETA: I think "Walking in the air" would be another great song for us: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLjwa96t01g But again, I don't have any sheet music for it. | |
